NM FIESTA Project Training: Successful Transitions Into and Out of Your Home
By the end of this session, foster and adoptive parents will understand the emotional and behavioral impact of transitions on children who have experienced trauma or instability. They will be able to identify signs of transition-related stress and anxiety in their children and recognize how these challenges affect behavior, attachment, and adjustment. Parents will learn and implement at least 3 evidence-based strategies to support their child through transitions—whether entering their home, moving to a new placement, or other significant changes. They will also develop skills to communicate with social workers, previous caregivers, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care and support their child’s sense of security and belonging throughout the transition process.
