NM FIESTA Project Training: Fetal Alcohol Syndrome 101: Building Empathy, Awareness, and Early Intervention
Learning Target: This introductory training is designed specifically for adoptive parents of children who may have been exposed to alcohol prenatally. It provides a clear, compassionate overview of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and other conditions on the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum. Participants will learn how prenatal alcohol exposure can affect a child’s brain, behavior, and development, and explore practical strategies for parenting, advocacy, and accessing support. The goal is to equip parents with the knowledge and tools to better understand their child’s unique needs and foster a nurturing, responsive home environment.
